How to use this book
- Read it slowly. Say each isiXhosa word out loud, then the English. Repeat it as many times as your little one likes.
- Point and name. Let your child point to the picture while you say the word.
- Make the sounds. Roar, moo, bark or meow together. Little ones love to join in, and sounds help words stick.
- Spot it in real life. If you see an inja, an ikati or an inkomo on a walk, a farm visit or in a story, say the word and point it out to your child.
- Tell a story. Make up a short story about each animal, such as where it lives and what it eats.
- Come back often. Little ones learn through repetition, so a few pages at a time is perfect.
