How to use this workbook
- Start with the letter. Say the letter out loud and let your child look at its uppercase and lowercase forms.
- Learn the words. Say each word out loud and encourage your child to repeat it after you.
- Look at the pictures. Point to each picture as you say the word. Talk about what it is, what it does or where your child might see it.
- Trace with a finger first. Before using a pencil, let your child follow the shape of the letter with their finger.
- Trace with a pencil. Follow the arrows and dotted lines slowly. There is no need to rush.
- Colour it in. Let your child colour the letters and pictures. This gives little hands a break from writing while keeping them familiar with the letter.
- Spot the letters around you. Look for letters on books, signs, food packaging and other everyday objects.
- Use the words in conversation. Encourage your child to use the words they have learnt when talking about things around them.
- Do a little at a time. A few pages in one sitting is enough. Come back to the workbook often and repeat letters or words your child is still learning.
Most importantly, let your little Penglin learn at their own pace. The goal is to recognise the letters of the alphabet, practise writing them and build English vocabulary through repetition and play.
